Padgett racks up endorsements
UPDATE: ACK on some of the names. The Mike Padgett for U.S. Senate campaign has released a list of 22 endorsements that includes some prominent Tennessee Democratic party regulars. Read the full press release and list after the jump... 22 PROMINENT TENNESSEANS ENDORSE PADGETT FOR SENATE Group of lawmakers and civic leaders represent all parts of Tennessee NASHVILLE – A group of prominent Tennesseans from across the state endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Mike Padgett Wednesday. The group includes: "I am honored that all of these great friends have chosen to stand with me," Padgett said. "The character and values represented by this group should serve as a signal: "Tennesseans from across the spectrum are fed up with the status quo and are committed to cleaning up the mess made by President Bush, Senator Alexander and Senator McCain. No more coddling the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the working men and women of this land. "This fine group is willing to work with me because they know I have not forgotten Tennessee’s middle class. If you will join them in standing with me, I will give it all I’ve got in the 111th Congress to open the way once again to the American dream." ( categories: )

Commissioner Chism is on the State Executive Committee from District 33, although I don't remember if he was there when Tuke was chair of the TDP. He throws a big picnic every year, and candidates of BOTH parties show up, as it's THE summer political event in Big Shelby.
He is the first Democratic elected official here to go with Padgett instead of Tuke. What effect this might have is uncertain, but Tuke may not have the runaway here that we all thought.
Is it better to be endorsed by 22 individual politicians who support and profit by an increase in the size, cost, reach and power of the government.
Or is it better to endorse an idea whose time has come. That is stopping the growth of government and rolling it back in the reverse fashion it was expanded.
I will vote NO on any increase in the size, cost, reach or power of the government.
